There are different types of scars like ice prick scar ,rolling scar ,box type scar
Mostly due to various reasons like acne, chicken pox, skin infection, scars occur due to damage to the dermal ground substance (collagen fiber, elastic fiber, hyaluronic acid) in the sixth layer of the skin, dermis. Again we look at that place for the missing material to fill this hole. For which the fibroblasts in the sixth layer of our skin are stimulated in different ways. So it increases the production of this depleted element, and works to fill the scars. After the stimulation with laser, production of dermal ground substance starts, it takes about 8-11 months for its maturation.
This stimulation is usually done with the Fr-Co2 laser, erbium glass or MN Rf treatment at about 4 to 6 weeks. Depending on the skin type of each person, Generally 60% - 80% results are expected after 5 - 6 sittings. In ice prick and box type scars, scar revision surgery, scar subcision, grafting, or dermal fillers injection is to be done as per requirement.
Question : What precautions should be taken after scar laser treatment?
Answer : Sun exposure should be avoided for 5-6 days after laser treatment. Sunscreen or antibiotic cream should be used as per the advice of a dermatologist.
Treatment of scar with lasers also results in skin tightening and rejuvenation. Increasing the level of dermal ground substance in the skin also increases its water-holding capacity. Which brings moisture to the skin. And also reduces wrinkles.
